Olive Oil is a very popular product, originating mainly from the Mediterranian, used all over the world for a variety of uses such as cosmetics & body care products, cooking, and pharmaceuticals.
Many people use products containing olive oil everyday, or consume is regularly as a replacement for other fats and oils that are much less healthy.
Olive Oil provides several health benefits for the human body. It is rich in antioxidants, especially Vitamin E, with 1 TBSP accounting for about 10% of the recommended daily intake.
It also possesses healing & anti-aging qualities, making it an amzing product for use in soapmaking or skincare products.
Olive Oil contains squalene, a product also commonly used in skincare products, and said to be quite effective for the treatment of problem skin & acne. Squalene is taken from the liver of sharks, so being able to take advantage of the benefits of squalene without harming the sharkys is more environmentally friendly and much more comforting!
There are 1.6mg of vitamin E (a natural anti-oxidant) in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. That represents 10.6% of your recommended daily allowance.
Although Olive Oil is costly in comparison to other cooking oils, when used for skincare, this oil is very cost-efficient.

Olive oil for Skincare will…
- Promote a smooth, radiant complexion
- Help maintain elasticity of skin

- Condition and add shine to hair
Below are some popular uses for Organic Olive Oil in skincare:
For dry skin: Use on hands, feet, or all over the body in replace of any moisturizer. Use in lipbalms for a soothing, smoothing remedy for dry lips.
Whip up a quick sugar scrub for rough, dry hands. Combine two tablespoons of oil with two tablespoons of sugar. Rub on hands until sugar begins to dissolve. Rinse with warm water. Voilà! Silky-smooth hands.
After-sun protection: Not to be confused as a replacement for sunscreen, but olive oil applied to the skin after exposure to the sun will help to repair sun-damaged skin & protect against skin cancer.
As a treatment for stretchmarks & wrinkles: Because of its ability to heal & rejuvenate the skin, as well as maintain the skin's elasticity, olive oil helps reduce the appearance of stretchmarks & wrinkles.
For hair: Use as a replacement for hot oil or other pre-packaged hair treatments, or simply rub a few drops of olive oil between your hands and apply directly to damp or dry hair to help control frizz.
...warm two-three tablespoons of olive oil in the microwave for about 15 seconds and then pour it into the palm of my hand and massage it into my hair until it is fairly well saturated. I pay special attention to the ends and rub it into my scalp too. Then, slip on a shower cap to help hold in some of the heat and let it sit for 30 minutes. I have to wash my hair twice to get the oil out. Even if you don't need to use olive oil for frizzy hair, it makes a good inexpensive deep conditioner.
A relaxing treat: Add about a 1/4 cup of olive oil combined with several drops of essential oil in your favourite scent to your bath water to create a warm escape that will leave your skin feeling soft and supple.
Storage Recommendations
Due to a high content of mono-unsaturated fat, Olive Oil has an impressive shelf life when contained under proper conditions - around 2 years.
This oil should be kept in a dark, cool place, sealed in an airtight container.
If you keep your olive oil in the fridge it will turn cloudy and start to solidify, however once warmed up again, will return to it's normal consistency.
Buying Organic
Many commercially produced products that we use on our bodies on a daily basis are overflowing with chemicals.
Buying organic products is a great way to take comfort knowing you aren't exposing yours and your familes' bodies to these unnecessary additives that (in my opinion) may be potential harmful to our health over time.
..products are cultivated using traditional farming methods. Soil fertility is built; natural systems are worked with, not against; there is minimal, if any damage to the environment, and most importantly, Mother Nature is being respected.
